Dr. Feras Jassim Jirjees holds an impressive academic background, including a PhD in Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy, Queen's University Belfast, UK (2017), a Master in Clinical Pharmacy from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia (2007), and a BSc. in Pharmacy from the College of Pharmacy (2003). Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacotherapeutics at the College of Pharmacy, University of Sharjah, UAE, a position he has held since 2019. Dr. Jirjees brings a wealth of experience to his role, having previously worked as a Research Fellow at the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast, UK (2018-2019), and as a Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy, University of Sharjah, UAE (2008-2014). His dedication to research is evident through his extensive publication record, with over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Awad Saleh

Dr. Saleh holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Mansoura University, Egypt. In 2004, he earned his Master's degree in Pharmacology. Dr. Saleh obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Augusta University, USA, in 2010. Following this, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University from 2012 to 2016, where his research explored a novel link between inflammation and hypertension. Dr. Saleh a broad background in Pharmacology with expertise in exploring the mechanisms regulating blood pressure and renal function in experimental animal models of reno-cardiovascular diseases. Through a combination of in vitro and in vivo approaches, he has published over 60 manuscripts on this topic. He is currently an Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah, where he has been working since 2019 while on sabbatical leave from his position as a Professor of Pharmacology at Mansoura University in Egypt.

Prof. Maha Mohamed Saber-Ayad

She was graduated in the College of Medicine, Cairo University, with PhD in pharmacology 2006, fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2013, MSc in Endocrinology and DM, Queen Mary University of London, 2017. Her research domains include cancer research, as well as applied genetics including pharmacogenomics. She is the PI of projects funded by the University of Sharjah, Al Jalila Foundation, MBRU-Al Mahmeed Research Award and Sheikh Hamdan Medical Research Grant.

Prof. Eman Abu-Gharbieh

Prof. Eman Abu-Gharbieh serves as Professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Sharjah. She is the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and the Chair of Program Evaluation, Educational Quality Assurance, and Accreditation Committee. Prof. Abu-Gharbieh received her Doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Bologna- Italy in 2004 and her Pharmacy degree from the University of Jordan. As a keen researcher, Prof. Abu-Gharbieh is a member in many national and international societies such as American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), National Centre of Biotechnology (NCB)-Jordan, Jordan Pharmaceutical Association (JPA). She is a member of two research groups at the Research Institute of Medical & Health Sciences (RIMHS), namely the Environment and Cancer Research group and the Improving Health Care Delivery and Medicines group. In addition, Prof. Abu-Gharbieh is a collaborator with the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD), and she is a member of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit at the University of Sharjah. Prof. Abu-Gharbieh received many grants for her research and published over 100 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, and she has presented her work at various national and international conferences.

Dr. Fatemeh Saheb Sharif-Askari

Dr. Sameh Soliman

Dr. Sameh Soliman has obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in pharmaceutical sciences. He received his PhD from University of Guelph, Canada in chemical ecology of natural products and its role in host-microbe interactions. Then he did a Postdoctoral fellowship in mycotoxin manipulation and detoxification at Canadian Federal labs followed by another Postdoctoral fellow at UCLA in Chemical and biomolecular engineering of natural products. At UCLA Medical School, he was trained on infectious diseases, pathogenesis mechanisms and possible ways in diagnosis and treatment. Currently, he is an associate professor at the College of Pharmacy, UOS, UAE. Dr. Soliman is leading projects in chemical ecology and biotechnology of medicinal plants growing in the UAE and discovery and development of effective antimicrobials from UAE natural resources and to optimize their structures and activities.

Dr. Narjes S aheb Sharif-Askari

Dr. Narjes Saheb is an assistant professor of Immunology at the Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Sharjah. She earned an M.Pharm and Ph.D. from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2015 and later pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Sharjah. During her fellowship, she was trained as an immunologist and conducted research on steroid hyporesponsiveness and airway remodeling in severe asthma. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Narjes worked on several projects to identify intrinsic and extrinsic factors associated with life-threatening SARS-CoV-2 infections. Her research interests are broad and include the immunopharmacology of respiratory medicine and genetic susceptibility to dysregulated immune response.

Prof. Yasser Bustanji

Prof. Yasser Bustanji joined the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah as a faculty member in 2021. Before that, he had been a faculty member and main researcher at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan since 2002. Prof. Bustanji has participated in many research articles that have been published in well-respected international journals. He has also taken part in and organized a large number of conferences and workshops. He has supervised many students through their master's and Ph.D. studies. His research interests are varied and include finding and testing new compounds and medicinal plants that could be used to create new drugs. He is also involved in cancer research, studies that look at the safety and effects of substances on living cells, and the development of new drug delivery systems. His work also includes research in the field of nanotechnology, especially as it relates to treating chronic diseases.

Dr. Omar got his Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology from the Ohio State University, USA (2010) followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center (2011). • Dr. Omar participated in and led many research teams in the field of cancer therapeutics and drug discovery in different places. The main focus of his research is targeting cancer cell survival signaling pathways through safe novel approaches. • Dr. Omar has a massive record of international publications and drug patents in addition to many local and international awards, including the “Emirates Award 2020” for the Best Resident University Doctor in UAE.

Dr. Mohamed Madkour

Dr. Mohamed Madkour has completed his Ph.D. in Clinical & Molecular Biochemistry from Ain Shams University, Egypt in a channel with Lubeck University, Germany. He is currently working as an Assistant professor in the department of Medical Lab Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah. Dr. Mohamed Madkour had different academic positions at Qatar University and the University of Sharjah in the last 14 years. His training experience mainly with the clinical molecular genetics diseases analysis. Also, he has a previous experience in the infectious disease lab in the WHO reference lab. Dr. Madkour boasts an array of significant publications in esteemed international journals known for their substantial influence. and he is serving as an editorial board member and reviewer for several Molecular Biochemistry journals. His scholarly pursuits primarily revolve around investigating the association between intermittent fasting, Microbiome sequencing, and Nutrigenomics. These investigations delve into their profound effects on autoimmune diseases and diabetes, while also contemplating their potential contributions to the realm of personalized medicine. Notably, Dr. Madkour's research also investigates the realm of gut metabolites, elucidating their potential impact on the development of cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Waseem El-Huneid

Dr. Waseem El-Huneidi holds the position of Associate Professor in Biochemistry within the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, in 2008. Since then, he has been actively engaged in academia across various countries, including Jordan, KSA, and the UAE. Dr. El-Huneidi's research interests primarily revolve around diabetes and cancer. He is particularly focused on unraveling the roles of novel genes as potential regulators in the pathogenesis of these diseases. Additionally, his research explores the therapeutic potential of terpenoids as agents for combating cancer and diabetes. His work contributes valuable insights to the fields of biochemistry, disease pathology, and potential treatments for these conditions.

Dr. Jalal Taneera

Dr. Jalal Taneera obtained his Ph.D. in experimental endocrinology from Lund University in Sweden in 2007. During his doctoral studies, his research focused on investigating the potential of adult stem cells to trans-differentiate into pancreatic beta cells for cell therapy in diabetes. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Taneera joined the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Lund University for his post-doctoral training. During this time, he also served as a coordinator for the Human Islets Facility at Lund University Diabetes Center (LUDC). In 2010, Dr. Taneera assumed a new position as a Research Scientist at LUDC, where his primary focus has been on genetic profiling of human pancreatic islets and identifying novel genes involved in developing type 2 diabetes. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the field, publishing more than 70 peer-reviewed papers in renowned journals such as Cell Metabolism, PNAS, Nature, and Human Molecular Genetics. In recognition of his research accomplishments, Dr. Taneera was selected as the best young researcher in diabetes among all Scandinavian countries during the Helsinki conference in 2013. Since March 2016, Dr. Taneera has been working as an Associate Professor at the University of Sharjah medical college. In his current role, he continues to pursue his research interests in diabetes and contribute to advancing knowledge in the field.

He was the Associate Executive Director for Ancillary Services at King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAAUH) and the Pharmacy Director belong to Princess Nora University (PNU). He was also the Director of Pharmacy and A/Head of Continuous Professional Development at Riyadh Care Hospital (RCH), Riyadh. He is working as Pharmacy Surveyor at Saudi Center for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) since 2010. He has activities as a Clinical Associated Professor for training of PharmD students in cooperation with Pharmacy College, King Saud University and as a Clinical Associated Instructor at Riyadh College for Dentistry and Pharmacy for Bachelor and Master Candidates. My name is Abdullah Saud Al-Humaidan, Pharm.D., FCCN, MPH. I am employed by King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital. At present, I holds the position of Director of Pharmacy Department, and Consultant Clinical Pharmacist and former Chief Operation Officer (COO). I was the Executive Director of National Drug and Poison Information Center at Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Drug Sector in Riyadh. In addition, I worked at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center as clinical pharmacist and Acting director of pharmacy department. Dr. Abdulaziz Alqahtani is a consultant ambulatory care clinical pharmacist and the chairman of Pharmacy Staff Development Unit at King Saud University Medical City. Dr. Alqahtani is the chairman of the Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialty Network within the Saudi Society of Clinical Pharmacy. He is American board-certified in Ambulatory Care (BCACP) and Medication Therapy Management (BCMTM). Dr. Alqahtani received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Science. After graduation, he joined the SCFHS residency program (PGY1) at King Saud University Medical City. in 2019, he was granted the Saudi Board Degree in General Clinical Pharmacy (ASHP Accredited), and then he persuaded the specialized Saudi Pharmacy Residency Program in Ambulatory Care. Dr. Alqahtani has presented several talks at national and international events. I developed an interest in cardiology throughout the years of studying and had the opportunity to complete a second year residency in cardiology in 2021 from Brigham and women’s hospital in Boston. I also completed a fellowship in cardiology in 2022 from the same hospital focusing on heart failure and I’m a board certified cardiology pharmacist as of 2022. My personal and research interests are in anticoagulation and heart failure. Currently I am an assistant professor in the faculty of pharmacy at Kuwait University involved in several programs including the add-on PharmD.
